Help Center

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am on the provider panels of three insurance companies: Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Aetna and Medicare.  I also will bill insurance companies if I am out of network.

A therapy hour is 50 minutes.

What is your therapeutic approach to working with your clients?

My approach blends several traditional approaches with several less conventional perspectives and techniques. When using more traditional psychotherapy, we focus on internal emotions, thoughts and past experience.  You will gain insight about your internal mental processes and explores changes that need to be made to create greater satisfaction and happiness. I will also help you to become more aware of the socio-politcal culture in which you live.  This will help you to differentiate between the types of changes you want to make and identify external forces that need to be addressed to create change in your life. I am a feminist therapist. You can read more about what that means below.

What is feminist therapy?

Feminist therapy is a person-centered, politically informed model that positions treatment within a cultural context. Its goals are to empower the person in treatment, enabling that person to potentially address aspects of social transformation, nurture the self and establish a strong self-concept, and restructure and enhance personal beliefs about identity. A therapist will generally work to prevent bias, demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of oppression, and offer a genuine, non-hierarchical relationship that emphasizes mutuality and equality. Those in treatment may share their own stories and also hear about the therapist's experiences. This form of therapy often has the effect of inspiring those in treatment to incite social change, and individuals may also, through therapy, become better able to accept themselves.
